Farms for tourists in Sicily between the Ionian Sea and Etna

_ _____

The farms are placed in the Eastern part of Sicily, between the volcanic massif of Etna and the Ionian Sea with the sea level at 1000 m. We are placed between Catania and Taormina, optimal place to explore and know and as reference for walking in the whole Sicily. The area is not big, however it offers different aspects, difficult to find in other places. It is well equipped with infrastructures (streets, highways, airports, railways), thanks to which it can be used more easily. We find agritouristic structures on the sea, in the low and high hill and on the mountains. Cottages, country residences, simple little houses in the middle of citrus fruit orchards, vineyards, fruit-farms, hazel groves, overlooking Etna westward and the Ionian Sea eastward. We are between Catania, Acireale, Taormina and Etna, but the towns of the area are well characterised and particular. From Giarre the main arterial roads pass and the trade and handicraft is very developed. In Riposto there is the maritime village of Torre Archirafi, the harbour (Harbour of Etna), the ancient little church of Madonna della Lettera with its crypt. In Mascali, the long beaches of Sant' Anna and Fondachello together with the mountain. In Sant'Alfio the centuries-old chestnut called “the Chestnut of Cento Cavalli” and the birches of Etna Park. In Piedimonte we find hills and mountains, viewpoint on the coast and the ancient sanctuary of Madonna della Vena. Linguaglossa is the main door to enter Etna from the northeast versant with its pinewoods. Zafferana and Milo are connected to Etna, rich in trade initiatives. Santa Venerina is among ancient vineyards and distilleries. Calatabiano between the castle at the end of the country and the Castle on the Sea of San Marco, on the southern bank of the river Alcantara. Fiumefreddo between the sea and the homonymous river, now Regional Reserve. Castiglione includes Etna and the river Alcantara, with its old city centre and the famous "Cuba". Randazzo is a little farther, unlosable for the medieval evidences in its old city centre and Etna environment. /font>
